From 1795 to 1811, Beethoven presented his five piano concertos to the world, paving the way from the classicism inherited from Mozart to a sound world of his own. Arion is proud to be able to embark on this major undertaking combining piano and orchestra with Élisabeth Pion, a musician of exceptional musical intelligence, sensitivity and virtuosity. The complete series, on period instruments, begins with the first three concertos, in this concert that will be followed by a recording. To round 4out the program, Arion will revive the music of Beethoven's contemporary Sophie Gail, performing the overture to her opéra-comique La Sérénade.
PROGRAM:
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 15
